Getting to know your baby and his needs
has been made easier with this easy-reading book.
With the wealth of information
available to us now on just about any subject you can think of, we as
parents feel more and more compelled to be as well-read as we can on
the topics of parenting, children, infancy, and all things
related. This book has it.
The Aware Baby touches on all the
bases: physical, disciplinary, psychological, bonding and attachment,
and learning. The thrust is to spend more time paying attention
to how children feel.
I like the exercises in this book at
the end of each chapter. They help the reader to explore one's
childhood, express feelings about your baby, and nurture yourself as a
parent. For the sake of preparing the material, they consider
babies to be children under the age 2 1/2.
The layout is easily read and
chronologically sound in terms of the child's development.
Playtime is discussed at length, along with components such as the
optimal environment, toys, types of games, levels of stimulation, and
teaching.
This book will give any inexperienced
parent confidence in nurturing his or her child. Additionally it
serves to boost knowledge one has but might have forgotten due to
daily stresses of living and "trying to get it all
done." Babies of all cultures will benefit from the ideas
presented in The
Aware Baby.
