| If you are looking for an heirloom-quality
book of stories for your children to cherish for years, Beatrix Potters The Complete Tales is certainly worth a good
look. This would be a very special gift for
Santa to leave under any childs tree! Born in
1866, Beatrix was home-schooled and spent hours watching and sketching the small animals
she kept in her school room. Her first book, The Tales of Peter Rabbit, came out in 1902, and
was quite a success. |

Her illustrations are
fantastic, as you can see in this book. Modern
technology was used to reproduce her original watercolors and preserve them so that they
can be truly appreciated and enjoyed.
Inside one can find a photo of Beatrix
Potter outside her farmhouse in 1907, a brief biography of her life, her beautiful
illustrations, and of course, her time-tested sweet stories of Peter Rabbit, Mrs.
Tiggy-Winkle, Tommy Tiptoes, and many more little furry friends. Her style of writing is very different from
typical book on the shelf today and offers an interesting slant to children about how the
English language was used a century ago. Many
words were new to me, but the context clues always afforded me a idea to what Beatrix
refers in her tales.
I recommend this book as one to keep on
the shelves and to be enjoyed by the young and old for many years to come!
