Easing The Pain of Teething
By Elizabeth Geiger

We all hate to see our children in pain. When your baby is crying due to teething, all you want to do is make it stop for him.

We all hate to see our children in pain. When your baby is crying due to teething, all you want to do is make it go away for him. Here are a few suggestions:

1. A six month old baby loves to feed herself. Let her do that by giving her a popsicle. Take an ice cube tray, fill it with your baby's favorite juice and put wooden sticks in each section. The cold popsicle will numb his gums for a few moments and allow him to have a few giggles.

2. After the first two bottom teeth come in, your baby can chew on a cold carrot or apple. This will make the pain subside, as well as give your baby a little added nutrition. Remember - never give your baby something he can choke on.

3. You want to make sure you have handy an over the counter teething gel, and pain reliever medication. These two combined will let your baby, and you, have a break from the pain. Be sure to ask your doctor what the correct dosage of medication is for your baby's age.

4. One of the ways a baby learns is through "mouthing" objects. Give your baby a cold teething ring. You can buy one that is made to be put in the refrigerator.
The best thing I have found to help my little angel get though teething is love. Lots of love and attention is sure to distract your baby from the pain of teething.
