Forgotten
Thankfulness
by Jess Bali of

Some people are
thankful for their homes which keep them warm, dry and comfortable.
Others are thankful for the meals that grace their tables each night
to nourish their bodies. There are a million reasons that we speak
allowed that we are thankful for; our health, children, employment,
etc. However there is one thing that I rarely hear about at the
Thanksgiving table as those that wish to share take turns.
Thanksgiving is the time of year when
we reminisce about all of the wonderful things that have happened both
in our lives and to those closest to us. Some people are thankful for
their homes which keep them warm, dry and comfortable. Others are
thankful for the meals that grace their tables each night to nourish
their bodies. There are a million reasons that we speak allowed that
we are thankful for; our health, children, employment, etc. However
there is one thing that I rarely hear about at the Thanksgiving table
as those that wish to share take turns.
It is the one thing that sustains us through troubled times, allows us
to feel complete. No matter where we go this one thing that we fail to
acknowledge never leaves our sides. It is comforting and inspiring,
grounding and sincere. The thing that most forget to be thankful for
our spouses.
When was the last time that you sat down at your Thanksgiving meal and
reflected on all of the good things that have happened because of your
spouse? How can we so easily forget the one thing that allows us to
continue to push on through the thick and thin?
Some of you know exactly what I am talking about. It is so easy to see
someone each day and not appreciate what they have done both for us
and for those around us. People are caring creatures, for the most
part, and while some have a hard time showing emotions in a way that
their spouse wants they try their best.
Take for instance my husband. This last year he has given me the
opportunity to do something that I love. Something that says that I am
more than a mom, or a wife. He has watched as I struggled to choke
back the tears as things got rough and he has celebrated with me when
the triumphs were overwhelmingly joyous. That's my man! :)
My friends husband shows very little emotion, so she becomes exuberant
when he becomes engrossed in something that she has done and tells her
that it is good. She knows the way he is and his gentle reassurance
means more to her than anything.
Sometimes we don't always see that our spouses are proud of us or
trying to do the best they can for us, but they are. You might not see
roses, diamonds or presents in shiny wrapping in their arms when they
are trying to show how much they care. Sometimes though the sweetest
thing that they can do is hold you when you are down, look at you
across a room and just watch. It is within these moments that I love
my husband the most and for that I am thankful.
I am thankful for all of the times he has assured me that things will
be fine. When I feel like I can't take the pain anymore I am thankful
that he is willing to help carry it. Most of all I am thankful for the
glint in his eye that showers me with love when I make eye contact and
neither of us can break away. He is my lover, my friend, my heart and
my soul and I will always be continually thankful for the one thing in
my life that remains with me no matter how far he is, my husband.
So this year as your family is going around the table and saying the
things that they are most grateful for be sure to remind your spouse
that you do appreciate everything he or she does. Catch the glint
across the table and let the magic flow. It is time to be thankful.
From my house to yours,
Happy thanksgiving!

Traditions and Memories
Family and tradition. Isn't that what the holidays are really all
about? The holidays are the one time of the year that families come
together and create memories that will stay with them throughout a

A
Frugal But Elegant Thanksgiving
Over years I have had groups of 10-12 over to our house for
Thanksgiving and served a nice dinner with all the extras but didn't
break my budget. It takes planning and watching the sales early
instead of buying everything the week before.

Buffet Style
Buffet service fits perfectly into the relaxed, informal pattern of
busy lives. If you have limited dining space, or if you are a
do-it-yourself hostess, buffet service permits you to entertain with
more ease than any other type of service, and just as graciously and
pleasantly.
